Friday night, phone ringing, nobody free to lift it.

An AI receptionist that answers in your business's name at the busiest hour of the week, takes order or table-booking details and the questions that come with them, and sends them to you as a text and an email in seconds.

£80 to set up, then £80 a month plus 16p a minute of call time.

The busiest hour is the hour you can't answer

Half seven on a Friday. Two staff on, a queue at the counter, the fryers going and the phone ringing for the fourth time in five minutes. Nobody can lift it. The caller hears it ring out, hangs up, and orders from the place two doors down instead.

It's the same in a restaurant or a bar. The calls come in the middle of service — a table for twelve on Saturday, somebody asking if you're open Monday, a customer asking whether you deliver to their street. All of them small, all of them worth money, all of them landing when every pair of hands is busy.

A missed call at a quiet time is a nuisance. A missed call at peak time is the order you were open for.

What it does for a takeaway, a restaurant or a bar

    Answers in your business’s name

Your greeting, your opening hours, your wording — and it answers every call at once, so six people ringing at half seven all get through.

    Takes table-booking requests

Party size, date, time, name, number and any allergies the caller volunteers, taken as a message and sent straight to you to confirm.

Answers the questions you get all night

"Are you open?", "Do you deliver to Dromore?", "Can I book for twelve?", "How long is the wait?" — answered with the hours, zones and times John configures with you.

Takes the full order — as a separate set-up

Our AI Order-Taker takes items, quantities, extras, collection or delivery, name, number and address, reads the whole thing back, then texts and emails it to you. It's its own product at £650 to set up, then £250 a month plus 16p a minute of call time, and it's the only thing on this page priced differently.

Writes down allergy information word for word

It passes on exactly what the caller said and leaves the confirming to your kitchen, where it belongs.

    Texts and emails every call

A text to the phone behind the counter and an email with the full transcript, seconds after the caller hangs up.

A call at half seven on a Friday

SamGood evening, Bridge Street Takeaway — how can I help?

CallerDo you deliver out to Moira?

SamWe do, there's a £3 charge to Moira and it's about fifty minutes tonight. Would you like to place an order?

CallerAye — a large chicken curry, chips, and a bag of prawn crackers.

SamLarge chicken curry, chips and prawn crackers. Anything on the curry, or any allergies I should pass to the kitchen?

CallerNo nuts, my wee girl's allergic.

SamI've written that down exactly as you said it and the kitchen will confirm it with you at the door. Can I take your name, number and address?

    CallerCiaran Doherty, 07713 220 114, 14 Meadow Park, Moira.

Hear the takeaway agent before you commit

We won't put a restaurant's name on this page that isn't a client. We don't have a takeaway live on order-taking yet — what we do have is a working takeaway agent, built on exactly the same setup that answers calls today for a parts shop in County Tyrone.

So test it rather than trust us. Ring 028 9622 8892, order the way your customers order, ask it something awkward, and see how it handles a busy-night question.

    What it does not do

    • It does not take card payments. Money is still taken at the counter, at the door, or through your own online ordering.
    • It does not confirm a table itself. A booking request comes to you as a text and an email and a person on your side says yes.
    • It does not know your specials unless you tell John. If tonight's board changed at five o'clock and nobody told us, it won't know about it.
    • It does not confirm that a dish is free from an allergen. It records what the caller said and leaves that judgement with your kitchen.
    • It does not build a full phone order on the standard receptionist. That's the AI Order-Taker, £650 to set up, then £250 a month plus 16p a minute of call time.

Allergen information rules for food businesses selling by phone and for delivery are set out by the Food Standards Agency.

Registering a food business in Northern Ireland — including a takeaway working from home — is explained by the Food Standards Agency on GOV.UK.

    Questions we get asked

Taking a full order over the phone — items, quantities, extras, collection or delivery, name, number and address, read back to the caller — is a separate set-up we call the AI Order-Taker, and it has its own price: £650 to set up, then £250 a month plus 16p a minute of call time. The standard receptionist at £80 to set up, then £80 a month plus 16p a minute answers the phone, handles questions and takes booking and callback details as messages, but it doesn't build an order.

It knows what John puts in it. You send us the menu, the prices, the sizes and the usual extras at setup, and it works from that. If you change a price or drop a dish, you tell John and it changes the same day. It will not guess at a dish it has never been given.

It records what the caller tells it, word for word, and passes it straight to you in the text and the email. It does not confirm that a dish is free from anything. Allergen information is your legal responsibility and a phone agent is not a safe place to give it, so the script tells the caller the kitchen will confirm allergen details when they collect or when you ring back.

Every one of them gets answered. It is not one person with one handset — it takes all the calls at the same time, so nobody sits listening to an engaged tone while your fryers are going. That is the whole reason takeaways look at this in the first place.

Yes, if you give John your delivery zones and the minimum spend at setup. It will say plainly whether you deliver to a street or a town, what the charge is and roughly how long the wait is on a busy night — all using your own numbers, not anything we invent.

It takes the request. Party size, date, time, name, number and any allergies the caller volunteers come to you as a text and an email within seconds, and somebody on your side confirms the table. It does not hold or confirm a table itself.

£80 a month plus 16p a minute, so 300 minutes of call time works out at about £128 a month, after the one-off £80 setup. 100 minutes is about £96 and 500 minutes about £160. There's no VAT on top — we're not VAT-registered.

No. You keep the number that's on your menus, your signage and your Google listing. You forward it — always, or only when it rings out, or only after closing — and it's 30 days' notice to stop.
